Perineal dissection

• Perineal incision
• Base of the corpora
• Self-retaining retractor
• Midline dissection
• Scott ring retractor
• Urethral dissection – care not to injure
• Urethral leak test

Urethral calibration

• Urethral calibre measurement. Usually 4.0 or 4.5cm
• Ensure adequate width behind the urethra to avoid cuff compression

Suprapubic incision

• Transverse above the pubic bone.
• Through the rectus sheath – split not divide
• Create a pocket.
